Throughout the Environmental Resources Section of our department, goals are consistently set in place to reduce litter, educate the public of new and relevant information, increase awareness of how to recycle in Walton County, decrease pollutant discharge into stormwater infrastructure, protecting coastal dune lakes for naturally beautiful attractions, management of invasive species, protecting waterways with the Choctawhatchee Bay Estuary Coalition, preserving and deploying artificial reefs for increased attractions, and many other topics that intertwine with the work this department is involved with.

In existence since 2008, Scenic Walton works to improve quality of life in our communities through pursuing projects and programs to landscape the gateways into our communities, achieve the undergrounding of overhead utilities, expand pedestrian and cyclist facilities, and advocate for strong aesthetic and access management guidelines throughout the county.
